Course ACHB 231-003 Approved for 6 1/2 NCCAOM PDA Points
The purpose of this one-day seminar is to provide the ADS trainee acupuncturist or acupuncture student who has completed the NADA clinical requirements or is in the process of doing so with additional information so that he or she can apply to the National Acupuncture Detoxification Association (NADA) to receive an Acupuncture Detoxification Specialist (ADS) certificate. This will allow the acupuncturist to better serve those clients with substance abuse and addictions issues as well as supervise non-acupuncturist ADS’s in states that allow this practice.
Specific topics that will be covered include treating special populations (e.g. pregnancy, prisons, etc.); establishing and maintaining community health programs (regulations, funding, referrals, etc.); applying the NADA protocol to legal addictions (e.g. nicotine) as well as behavioral health clients; additional auricular and body points to support the behavioral health client; how various chemical substances affect the zang/fu and the five-elements and the nuances of supervising non-acupuncturist ADS’s.
Dave Wurzel is a NADA Registered Trainer and was one of the recipients of the Association’s first ever Most Valuable Trainer Award in 2005. He travels extensively teaching the Acudetox protocol to acupuncturists, counselors, nurses and doctors. Dave has administered over 30,000 Acudetox treatments and is trained as a chemical dependency counselor.
