This 2-day seminar is intended to acquaint the acupuncturist or clinical student with the diagnostic techniques and treatment methods necessary to utilize these pathways in treating skeletal-muscular conditions. After reviewing the trajectories and indications for the 8-extraordinary and tendinomuscular channels, this class will cover the diagnostic techniques of the pathways including palpation, Akabane testing and pulse diagnosis. Treatment methods taught include needling and moxa techniques, the use of polarization agents such as gold and silver needles and ion-pumping cords, and mechanical techniques like gua sha, cupping and plumb blossom needling. The use of auriculotherapy as an adjunct to these methods will also be discussed. Participants will practice the diagnostic techniques and treatment methods on each other.
